Sergei Voitovich, a Partner of Grischenko & Partners, was among the speakers at KIЕV ARBITRATION DAYS 2011: Think Big!
On November 17 to 18, the Ukrainian Bar Association held a conference entitled KIЕV ARBITRATION DAYS 2011: Think Big! The conference was an international venue to discuss the issues and perspectives of international commercial and investment arbitration – of speakers alone there were over 30. Being unique to Ukraine, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experience and information on the novelties of international arbitration. It was attended by over 120 prominent international arbitration specialists of various countries.
Sergei Voitovich, a partner and the Head of Arbitration practice of Grischenko & Partners, Law and Patent Offices, spoke on “Settlement v. Unfavorable Award”. Mr. Voitovich elaborated on the advantages and disadvantages of a settlement agreement, at different stages of the arbitration proceedings, as applied to avoid an unfavorable arbitration award. In particular, Mr. Voitovich mentioned the cases of his own practice where he had represented the State of Ukraine as a counsel, and which had been settled by an agreement of the parties.
